PhD Student in the BMS Program
Tasha is a BMS PhD student in the Aguilar Lab. She grew up in the East Bay in Hayward and got her undergraduate degree in Microbiology and immunology at UCLA. She started her research journey there at the Yang Lab working on engineering cancer immunotherapies using invariant natural killer T cells. After graduating, Tasha became a staff research associate with the Calabrese lab investigating the role of natural killer cells in acute lung transplant rejection. She joined the Aguilar lab in 2024 and is now studying the characteristics of unique NK cell subsets. Outside of research, Tasha enjoys playing rugby, sleeping, and experiencing life’s simplest pleasure (a coffee and a sweet treat).
